Liaisons with the Vice Presidents for Standards and Ethics in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology

Charge

Develop and approve standards for ASHA's Continuing Education Program related to provider approval and provider course development and implementation; oversee the review, approval, and periodic reapproval of Providers of continuing education courses offered for ASHA CEUs; oversee the review, approval, and registration of Providers' courses offered for ASHA CEUs; formulate policies and procedures for the functions of the ASHA CE Registry; set requirements for the Award for Continuing Education.

Composition

CEB is composed of 9 members, one of which is Chair. CEB strives to have representation that reflects the diversity of our professions. Efforts are made to have both audiologists and speech-language pathologists on the board. Desired but not required is the appointment of at least one CE Administrator from an ASHA Approved CE Provider organization.

Commitments/Obligations

2 full CEB meetings per year; 6-8 conference calls per year; if assigned to a committee of CEB, the committee will determine the need for calls and will plan out the time commitment for the project; CEB uses a community site to share information, edit and post documents and carry out committee assignments.

Desired Service Qualifications/Experiences

CEB desires to balance the board with members who have had some ASHA committee/board experience with members who are new to ASHA leadership positions. CEB also desires to have members who bring experience from serving in state leadership positions for state licensure boards or state associations.
