Janice R. Trent, AuD, CCC-A, is the owner of Hearing Healthcare Services, LLC, with offices in Bowie and Oxon Hill, Maryland. The practice was started to reach individuals with hearing loss in underserved communities—promoting effective communication and advocating for their rights while providing quality, professional, patient-centered care. The focus of the practice has been to actively implement the vision and mission statement of ASHA, “Making effective communication, a human right, accessible and achievable for all.” As the practice has grown, it has reached a broad and diverse community and is recognized for excellence in customer care.
Prior to opening her practice. Dr. Trent’s professional career has included the following positions:
Dr. Trent obtained a B.S. in communication sciences and disorders from Hampton University (Hampton, VA); an MEd in audiology from Northeastern University (Boston, MA); and an AuD from The University of Florida (Gainesville, FL).
Dr. Trent has been an active member of ASHA for 34 years. She has served as Audiology Practitioner Site Visitor on the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). She served as Audiology Consultant to the ASHA Board Subcommittee on National Examination Performance, Coordinating Committee to the ASHA Vice President of Governmental and Social Policies. Dr. Trent was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Public Policy Advocacy, and she served as an Expert Panelist regarding entry-level requirements for audiologists. She was a member of the ASHA Standards Board, and she was the first recipient of the ASHA Media Outreach Champion Award.
Dr. Trent has balanced her professional career with her role as wife to her husband of 42 years. She and her husband are the proud parents of three professional adult daughters.
