Try Out the New Brand Block and Insignia Before They’re Required on July 1, 2021

December 15, 2021

We’re about 6 months away from the time when using the new Brand Block and Insignia will be required in promotional material. So many Providers have already made the switch! If you haven’t had the chance to use the new Brand Block or Insignia, now’s a good time to start. Then, you’ll have some time to swap them in before the deadline to stop using the old Brand Block takes effect on July 1, 2022.

Over the past year, we’ve included articles about the Brand Block in each edition of Intersections. These articles may be helpful as you make the transition, so take a look at our articles from the past year for more information:

Here are some of the highlights to keep in mind when transitioning from the old versions of the Brand Block and Insignia to the new ones:

Out With the ASHA CEU Sentence, In With Course Information

When you use the new Brand Block, there’s no need to include an ASHA CEU sentence; here’s an example:

This course is offered for 1.05 ASHA CEUs (Introductory level, Professional area).

Instead, you’ll include the course information (instructional level and ASHA CEU amount) either inside the new Brand Block itself using the PDF file (which can be converted to a JPEG after the course information is entered), like so . . .

. . . or directly adjacent to the new Brand Block when you use the JPEG version, like so:

CE - Name only Brand Block

Introductory Level

1.05 ASHA CEUs

If you’re advertising multiple courses in one promotional piece, use the JPEG version of the Brand Block. In this case, you’ll use one Brand Block in the promotional piece and include the course information for each course next to the corresponding course title and description.

You should have received both a PDF and JPEG version of the Brand Block in the email that ASHA CE sent in December 2020. If you need them sent again, please contact your Provider Manager, and they’ll resend them.

No Need to Indicate the Content Area in Promotional Material

Notice in the examples of the Brand Block above that the Content Area (Professional or Related) is not indicated? That’s because it’s no longer required to include on the promotional material for a course. Why is that? ASHA CE conducted a survey of ASHA members and Providers when considering refreshing our brand. In that survey, many ASHA members indicated that the Content Area was not useful, and it caused confusion. Even though the Content Area will not be included in the promotional material, you still must select it in the CE Provider Portal as part of the course registration process.

The New ASHA CE Provider Insignia

Use of the Insignia is optional, so you may not be using it at the moment. If you’re currently using it, don’t forget to change from the old Insignia to the updated version. You can use the Insignia in general promotional pieces for your organization to indicate that you are an ASHA CE Approved Provider. It’s different from the Brand Block in that you shouldn’t use it in promotional material for courses. It may be placed on your organization’s website, in print advertisements for your organization, and in informational brochures. The Insignia is not customized for individual Providers; however, it is a proprietary graphic reserved for use by ASHA CE Approved Providers only.

Check out the Insignia Guidelines [PDF] for more information on proper usage.

As always, ASHA CE is here to help you if you need it! If you have any questions about the Brand Block, the Insignia, or how to use them, please reach out to your Provider Manager. Thank you to all the Providers who have already starting using the new Brand Block and Insignia! We hope you’re as excited about the new branding as we are!
