The Educational Testing Service (ETS) informed ASHA that the SLP PRAXIS® examination was recently compromised, which has resulted in a small percentage of candidates, primarily individuals testing in June and July having their scores cancelled. The exam candidates affected by this situation have been contacted by ETS and this will not affect the availability or validity of the SLP PRAXIS® examination. We are able to share the following updates as of July 25, 2025; further updates will be provided if additional information comes to light.
The compromise resulted from 25 candidates violating ETS’ test taker confidentiality agreement by harvesting and distributing PRAXIS® exam questions and answers. The individuals who unlawfully harvested and distributed PRAXIS® exam questions had their exam scores and/or upcoming exam appointments cancelled by ETS and are ineligible to retest for two years.
While ETS worked to quickly have the confidential information removed from online sources, they were able to identify 155 candidates who accessed the exam content, which gave them an unfair advantage. Individuals who accessed the exam content had their exam scores or scheduled exam appointments canceled, but they are eligible to retest in 90 days.
ASHA, the Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CFCC), and ETS strongly believe it is essential to uphold academic integrity and test validity to ensure that current and future licensed and/or certified SLPs are qualified to provide safe, effective, and ethical care to clients/patients/students.
The exam candidates affected are advised to contact ETS’ Office of Testing Integrity by emailing them at TSReturns@ets.org or by calling them at 1-609-406-5430 (option 6) for further information on their individual situation.
