ASHA supports state and local initiatives that provide a salary supplement, stipend, bonus, or other type of salary upgrade to recruit, support, and retain educational audiologists and school-based speech-language pathologists (SLPs). We believe states and local districts should recognize those who hold and maintain ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) as a basis for providing salary supplements for school-based members.
Impact on Audiologists and SLPs
Some examples of salary supplements include:
- Stipend or reimbursement for maintaining an advanced credential (ASHA's CCC)
- Additional pay for increased work due to Medicaid billing/paperwork requirements
- Financial support to attend relevant professional development
- Stipend to mentor early career SLPs or clinical fellows
- Multilingual services
