Illinois Early Intervention Requirements for Practice
The information below is collected from state licensure boards or regulatory agencies responsible for developing requirements for the professions of audiology and/or speech-language pathology to work in the early intervention setting. State licensure issued by Illinois Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Training
Must complete an Early Intervention System Overview training offered by the Illinois Early Intervention Training Program (EITP). Trainings can be found at on the EITP website. Once the above is documented and providers have identified for whom they will be working and are properly enrolled in the billing systems, a temporary credential may be issued. The temporary credential is active for 18 months and gives providers that amount of time to complete 240 hours of Consultative Experience.
Continuing Education
When the experience is completed, a full credential may be issued and is active for 3 years. Every 3 years, 30 hours of Illinois Early Intervention Training Program approved continuing education is required for renewal.
Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow
Certification/Licensure
State licensure issued by Illinois Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Training
Must complete an Early Intervention System Overview training offered by the Illinois Early Intervention Training Program (EITP). Trainings can be found on the EITP website. When this has been documented, a temporary credential may be issued. The temporary credential is active for 18 months and will be transferred over to the Speech Pathology credential once a person completes the CFY and the Speech Pathology state license has been issued.
