Indiana Early Intervention Requirements for Practice

The information below is collected from state licensure boards or regulatory agencies responsible for developing requirements for the professions of audiology and/or speech-language pathology to work in the early intervention setting. Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology

Education

Master’s or doctorate degree

Certification/Licensure

State licensure is issued by Indiana Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.

Additional Requirements

• Must enroll in First Steps
• Must complete the Direct Service Provider Orientation (DSP 101)

Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow

Certification/Licensure

• State licensure is issued by Indiana Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
• Clinical fellow must submit the name, address, and copy of the license of their supervisor at time of enrollment.

Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants

Allowed with supervision

Continuing Education

• Complete follow up courses DSP 102 and 103.
• Complete First Steps Core Training (FSCT) annually.
• Completion of an Early Intervention credential must be completed within two years of enrollment. Credit points are earned in competency areas that represent bodies of knowledge and/or skills that are considered critical to the implementation of quality early intervention services. When earning the initial credential, providers may utilize prior education, training, and experience that is relevant to early intervention.
• Annual re-credential is also required for all providers and consists of documenting a minimum of three credential points of portfolio activities related to early intervention competency areas. Experience as well as formal and informal training may be counted toward credentialing activities.
