Assistants Mentoring Program, Assist

Purpose

The Assistant Mentoring Program, Assist, supports audiology assistants and audiologists, and SLPAs and SLPs in achieving their professional goals together. While working toward their goals, both mentor and mentee will gain specific knowledge and skills in mentoring relationships and team building. Mentoring pairs will acquire information about professionalism, advocacy, and ASHA resources, and they will have opportunities to network with other program participants.

2023 Timeline

Enrollment is closed for 2023 but will return in 2024 with a specific date to be determined.
Program Dates: Tentatively June 1–December 1

Eligibility

Mentees must

be an ASHA-certified audiology assistant or SLPA, be state credentialed as an audiology assistant or SLPA or state-equivalent support personnel and
be currently employed at time of application.

Mentors must

be an ASHA-certified audiologist or SLP and
have a minimum of 9 months of experience supervising an audiology assistant or SLPA.

How to Enroll

As a mentee

Sign into the online system (select the "Join Now" button) using your ASHA login email and password. If you do not have an ASHA login email and password, you must create an account first.
Answer all the questions to create your Mentee Profile.
After creating your Mentee Profile, select “Mentors” in the left panel, and view Mentor Profiles to find the right match for you.
Send a mentoring request to two to three mentors who match you well based on shared areas of interest. To do this, select “Connect” and “Request Mentoring Connection” for each mentor of interest.
Enrollment is complete once a mentor accepts your request.

As a mentor

Sign into the online system (select the "Join Now" button) using your ASHA login email and password. If you do not have an ASHA login email and password, you must create an account first.
Answer all the questions to create your Mentor Profile.
Once complete, your Mentor Profile will be visible to mentees, who will then send requests to connect. Mentors may choose to mentor up to two mentees.
Enrollment is complete once you have accepted at least one request for mentoring.
