How to Calculate ASHA CEUs
Use the ASHA CEU Calculation Worksheet [XLS] to determine the ASHA CEUs for the course's educational content. The number of training minutes can be calculated using the ASHA CE Word Count Formula that is based on 100 words-per-minute, and/or a time-ordered agenda, excluding breaks, meals, and other non-educational events. Providers can also conduct pilot studies if they don't wish to use the 100 words-per-minute formula for all or part of a course. The course’s total number of minutes is divided by 60 to arrive at the number of contact hours. Those hours then need to be rounded down to the nearest ½ hour. To obtain the ASHA CEU Amount, divide the rounded hours by 10. See the chart below for a easy guide to calculations.
