A cooperative course offering is when one ASHA Approved CE Provider joins with another organization or entity that is not an ASHA Approved CE Provider to plan, deliver, and evaluate a continuing education course offering (or offerings) for ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE assesses a fee for cooperative course offerings (known as a cooperative fee), and the ASHA CE Provider Portal calculates the fee based on the number of cooperative course offerings entered.
Providers who engage in cooperative offerings must abide by the following policies: [Standard 1]
- Providers who choose to engage with cooperative organizations assume full responsibility for compliance with all Standards for ASHA CE Providers and ASHA CE Policies.
- Any course planned and developed with organizations that are not ASHA Approved CE Providers must be registered as a cooperative course offering, and all cooperative fees must be paid.
- Providers that conduct cooperative CE course offerings with other units or departments within the same institution or organization may be liable for a cooperative fee if those units (a) were not described—in the original application for CE Provider approval—as being a part of the organization seeking ASHA Approved CE Provider status or (b) have not been included in an ASHA CE–approved change in the scope of the ASHA Approved CE Provider.
- The ASHA Continuing Education Administrator remains the primary point of contact and must be the one to contact ASHA CE staff with any questions regarding a cooperative course offering.
Cooperative Fees
- Cooperative fees must be paid at the time of submission. Fees may be subject to applicable taxes.
- Cooperative fees are nonrefundable. If a cooperative course offering is canceled, then the cooperative fee may be applied to another cooperative course offering registered within 12 months of the end date of the originally scheduled course offering. Providers must request this credit.
Cooperative Deadline (30 days)
- Cooperative courses must be submitted via the ASHA CE Provider Portal no less than 30 calendar days before the starting date [PDF] of the first course offering. The start date is not counted in the 30 days (e.g., if the course starts on 9/27, then it must be submitted no later than 8/28. The start date is day 31). Applicable cooperative fees must be paid at the time of submission.
- Additional cooperative course offerings must be registered no less than 3 calendar days in advance of the offering’s start date [PDF]. The start date is not counted in the 3 days (e.g., if the offering starts on 9/27, then it must be submitted no later than 9/24; the start date is day 4) Applicable cooperative fees must be paid at the time of submission.
Joint Providership
- A joint providership is when two or more ASHA Approved CE Providers team up to plan, deliver, and evaluate continuing education course offering(s).
- ASHA CE does not assess cooperative fees when the other organization is an ASHA Approved CE Provider.
- When two or more ASHA Approved CE Providers work together to develop, distribute, and/or present an activity, one Provider must take responsibility for registering and reporting the course offering(s) and ensuring compliance with the Standards for ASHA CE Providers and ASHA CE Policies.
