International Applicants for the CCC-A

The following are requirements for international applicants for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) under the 2020 Audiology Certification Standards. These documents must be sent to the ASHA National Office, and payment in full included with your completed application, in order to have your materials evaluated.

Pages 1–3 must be completed and signed by the applicant. Submission of partial applications will delay processing. Photocopies will not be accepted.
Disclosure questions/ affidavits
- Answer all three disclosure questions and include explanations for any questions to which you answered “yes,” then sign and date the affidavit section.
- By checking yes, you understand that you will be required to submit certified documentation that has been certified no later than 6 months from the date all application materials are received by the National Office.
- After the receipt of all application materials, you will receive a request for certified documentation. ASHA must receive this required certification documentation within 60 days of the date of the request.
Verification by Program Director
- Verification, on page 4, must be completed and signed/dated by the Program Director (or “Principal,” “Headmaster,” etc.). Photocopies will not be accepted.
- Verification must include the date (MM/DD/YY) that coursework and clinical practicum requirements for ASHA certification were completed.

Practicum Hours Summary

You must include a detailed record of your supervised clinical experience.
If one is not offered by your university, contact certification@asha.org to request a Practicum Hours Summary Sheet.
You must indicate the specific location(s) where you completed your clinical hours, the name of your supervisor(s) and their appropriate credentials, and the dates of completion.
In order to be eligible to apply for the CCC-A, you must have a minimum of 12 months of full-time experience (or its part-time equivalent) equaling 1,820 hours of supervised clinical practicum in the field of audiology that was completed during your clinical doctoral degree program.
- These hours must have been completed under the supervision of an ASHA-certified audiologist.
- If these hours were not completed under the supervision of an ASHA-certified audiologist, you will be required to complete the hours again with a post-graduate supervisor who holds the CCC-A. See Standard III for more information.
- Any portion of your supervised clinical practicum that was not completed under an audiologist meeting the requirements stated in Standard III may be completed post-graduation. Your post-graduation clinical instructor/supervisor, who must also meet the requirements in Standard III, will verify that you have demonstrated and acquired the knowledge and skills for ASHA certification following completion of the required supervised clinical experience.

Official English translation of undergraduate transcript

Mail to ASHA—photocopies of your translated transcript will not be accepted.
Additionally, you must include a copy of your original untranslated transcript.

Official English translation of graduate transcript

Mail to ASHA—photocopies of your translated transcript will not be accepted.
Additionally, you must include a copy of your original untranslated transcript.

Official English translations of undergraduate and graduate course descriptions and/or syllabi

Mail to ASHA or submit electronically via email at certification@asha.org.
Photocopies of course descriptions and/or syllabi are accepted.
Course descriptions and/or syllabi must be official university course descriptions, and syllabi must be from the time in which you were enrolled in the course.
Translations must be completed by a certified and/or credentialed professional translator.

Official copy of the credential evaluation report from a NACES member agency (reports older than 5 years will not be accepted)

This must be received in addition to the English translations of your transcripts.
Your credential evaluation agency must evaluate your academic program to be equivalent to the doctoral degree in the U.S.
If your degree is evaluated to be less than the equivalent to the doctoral degree for audiologists, you are ineligible to apply.
ASHA completes a separate evaluation of candidates to ensure that your academics and practicum meets the requirements as outlined in the standards. Your credential evaluation report does not guarantee that you have met the standards; it only determines U.S. equivalency of credit hours and degrees.

Praxis Examination

All applicants must have a passing score (170) submitted directly to ASHA from the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
ASHA must be designated as a score recipient.
The exam must be passed and reported to ASHA no later than 2 years after the date the application is received by the ASHA National Office.
Exam scores older than 5 years at the time the application is received by the ASHA National Office will not be accepted.

Full payment for initial application fee

Complete the charge authorization form (page 5 of the application), or submit a personal check made payable to ASHA.
Payment must be submitted in full with your application.
