Join speech-language pathologist Anna Manilla for an ASHA webinar that addresses the real-world challenges patients and families face when transitioning home from the ICU on thickened liquids. This session will focus on the practical difficulties of managing dysphagia outside the hospital, including helping patients and caregivers understand the importance of thickened liquids, access barriers, and preparation tips and tricks. Attendees will learn strategies to overcome these hurdles, gain valuable resources to support consistency and safety, and receive guidance on how to help families navigate social stigma and caregiver burden while ensuring optimal care at home. The webinar will also introduce Purathick as an effective thickener for ongoing use in the home setting.
