Ellen Fagan Remembered

As mentioned on the community site in April, it is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of our colleague and friend, Ellen Fagan. Ellen was an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certified Member who served as the Director of ASHA’s Continuing Education (CE) program until her retirement in 2020. During her tenure, Ellen developed ASHA Continuing Education into the program that we know today. She believed in the value of continuing education, the importance of standards and requirements, and the need to continually build competencies in practitioners. Ellen’s contributions to the professions were extensive. She was awarded the Outstanding Service Award by ASHA in 2017. She was also well known in the accreditation world, serving in leadership positions with both the International Accreditors of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
