Updates to the Course Registration Form
If you’ve been in the CE Portal recently, you may have noticed a few changes to the course registration form. CE has begun efforts to update the form—to prepare for implementation of the new standards and policies on July 1, 2025.
Note the following changes:
- The first update included a few text changes throughout the form.
- When you choose to have your course listed on CEFind, you’ll be asked if your course has any fees that attendees must pay to take the course and/or earn ASHA CEUs. When we revamped the CEFind application last year, the data analytics showed that the top search phrase was “free courses.” We added the question to be able to highlight these courses quickly for users. If you choose to have to your course listed on CEFind, please select “no” for this fees-related question only if there are absolutely zero fees for attendees (i.e., if the course is completely free for everyone). Stay tuned for future communications on how and when ASHA CE will implement the next round of changes.
New and Updated Resources
- Capturing the participant’s intent to earn ASHA CEUs and securing permission to send their data to ASHA CE (new): This resource includes a description of what types of information Providers need to get from learners—as well as examples of how Providers might gather it.
- Outcomes assessment and satisfactory completion (new): This resource discusses the importance of the learning assessment and what this assessment might look like, depending on course objectives. It also covers what satisfactory completion requirements might look like—and why they matter.
- Transparency and Disclosure (updated): This resource includes details about the importance of transparency and covers disclosures for content, instructor/planners, and financial and in-kind support. It also covers how you manage advertisements and exhibits.
What To Expect From ASHA CE in the Next 3 Months
ASHA CE is hard at work reviewing Provider tools and resources to ensure that you have the information needed to successfully implement the Standards and Policies. Here is what you can expect from us in the next 3 months:
- Course submission portal changes: A small number of changes will be made to the portal to align with the Standards. Below is a list of what is changing, and we will share details shortly prior to launch.
- Needs assessment sources: This section will be removed.
- Satisfactory completion: Removing the satisfaction completion checkboxes and replacing them with a request for the satisfactory completion statement shared with learners or (until June 30, 2025) a description of the completion requirements.
- How were ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) determined? Removing established word count and inherited ASHA CEUs.
- Course content and financial and in-kind support disclosure statement location: Checkboxes will be added.
- The next update will require additional coding and development efforts—so the Portal may be temporarily offline for site maintenance closer to the implementation date.
- CEA Tutorial: The tutorial will be updated to align with the Standards and Policies.
- Updated Resource: We are updating an existing resource.
- Accessibility and Inclusivity Guidelines (updated): Creating Continuing Education for AUDs and SLPs (updated). This resource provides information and resources on creating and implementing accessible, inclusive course and presentation materials.
