Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Practice Management Software for Speech-Language Pathologists
Electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management software allow for tasks such as clinical documentation, scheduling, registration/insurance authorization, and billing functions. While Medicare and Medicaid EMR incentive programs are aimed primarily at physicians and health care facilities, other health care providers, such as speech-language pathologists and audiologists, will benefit from using these systems. Clinicians should evaluate products based on criteria such as overall time required to input data, stability, and reliability of the software, degree of manipulation to enter information, accessibility and adaptability of data, accessibility of hardware, and expense.
