Non-CSD Travel Stipend for IPE/IPP Presentations at the ASHA Convention

As part of ASHA’s commitment to interprofessional education and interprofessional collaborative practice, ASHA offers a travel stipend to support non-CSD (communication sciences and disorders) professionals who present at the ASHA Convention. A limited number of stipends are available to help selected non-CSD co-presenters with travel costs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Answered "yes" to the question on the Call for Papers: "Are you presenting as an interprofessional team that includes non-CSD presenters?"
  • The presenting team includes an audiologist, speech-language pathologist, or a CSD researcher who will register for the Convention.
  • Stipend awardees must present in-person at the conference.

Not Eligible

  • Invited sessions in any category, hands-on/demo lab sessions, flash sessions, or poster sessions
  • Students
  • CSD professionals, international affiliates, and researchers with CSD credentials

Travel Stipend Awards

  • Up to 25 non-CSD presenters will receive a $1,000 travel stipend.
  • No more than two non-CSD presenters per session may receive the stipend. Registration is waived.
  • Stipend recipients will be notified by late summer.
  • Recipients will receive a stipend check in the mail following the ASHA Convention.

Selection Process

  • All proposals are reviewed and rated by the ASHA Convention Topic Committees as part of the Call for Papers review process.
  • Accepted sessions that meet the the stipend eligibility criteria are then reviewed by Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Practices teams.
  • Selections are based on: 
    • Overall session rating in any topic area
    • Inclusion of IPE/IPP competencies, research, tools or curricular models that facilitate successful team collaborations
    • Content that is not duplicated by invited sessions
    • A balanced mix of awardees across professional settings, disciplines, and disorder areas
  • Stipend awardees must resubmit financial disclosures to reflect the travel award.
  • To receive the stipend, awardees must submit W-9 (US based recipients) or W-8BEN (international recipients) by the stated deadline.
