The MSLP

Purpose

The MSLP, ASHA's student leadership program, was established for undergraduate seniors, master's students, AuD students who are enrolled in communication sciences and disorders programs, and post-entry level SLP students who are enrolled in a clinical or research doctoral degree program. This program is open to students from all cultural legacies and backgrounds.

The MSLP:

MSLP Resources

Provides focused educational programming and activities to build and enhance leadership skills
Provides an understanding of how the association works
Provides an opportunity for program participants to interact with leaders in the professions of audiology, speech-language pathology, and speech, language, and hearing sciences

In addition, The MSLP offers its participants the chance to network with ASHA leaders, university faculty, and clinicians who can offer educational and career opportunities and who have continuously supported the success of The MSLP. Participants will also get a chance to meet and talk to MSLP alumni as well as other young leaders. All of these networking opportunities give participants exclusive access to learn about in-demand resources to move their careers forward.

The 2025 MSLP will take place November 17–23 in Washington, DC.

The 2025 MSLP award package includes:

2025 National NSSLHA/ASHA graduate student member Convention registration
6 nights lodging (November 17-23, 2025)
Program stipend

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must be enrolled as an undergraduate senior, master's, or AuD student in a communication sciences and disorders program or be a post-entry level SLP student enrolled in a clinical (SLPD) or research (PhD) doctoral degree program in the fall of 2025.

Participation Requirements

By applying to the 2025 MSLP, you are agreeing to:

The MSLP is a 6-day program and full participation is mandatory. If there is a schedule conflict with a class or exam, exemptions may be granted by MSLP staff as needed.
Receive information from our sponsors, which are committed to supporting CSD students and diversifying the professions.
Be a member of National NSSLHA and/or an ASHA graduate student member to receive free ASHA Convention registration for full participation in The MSLP.
PhD students ONLY: Attend the MSLP/ARTA Peer Connections Networking event.
Due to conflicting awardee requirements on site at the ASHA Convention, applicants may only apply to one of the following programs per year.
- Audiology/Hearing Science Research Travel Award (ARTA)
- Audiology Students at ASHA Convention
- The MSLP, ASHA's Student Leadership Program
- Research Mentoring-Pair Travel Award (RMPTA)
