Candidate for Board Member at Large in Audiology: Jason H. Thomas, CCC-A

Jason H. Thomas, AuD, CCC-A is the Clinical Coordinator of Audiology Services and is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at Hofstra University and The Long Island Doctor of Audiology Consortium (Adelphi, Hofstra, and St. John’s Universities). Dr. Thomas teaches graduate courses in clinical audiological instruction, vestibular assessment and management, and speech-language-hearing sciences. In addition to research collaborations, as well as a demanding clinical and academic workload for the past several years, Dr. Thomas has coordinated and provided community outreach and diagnostic audiological services for a variety of underserved populations in the New York City metropolitan area.

Dr. Thomas obtained a BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Iona University (New Rochelle, NY) with concentrations in biology and psychology and an AuD from The Long Island Doctor of Audiology Consortium (Long Island, NY). 

He remains a committed contributor to the professional community. Previously, he served on the Political Action Committee for the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) for several years. As an active ASHA constituent, he participated in the ASHA Leadership Mentoring Program and served on various ASHA Convention planning committees (Leadership and Professional Issues, Global Issues and Practices, and Dispensing, Business, and Practice Management). In addition, Dr. Thomas chaired the “Hearing, Balance, and Tinnitus – Assessment and Intervention: Adult” planning committee for the first hybrid ASHA Convention in 2021. He received honors from the Long Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association, ASHA, ADA, and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA). 

Dr. Thomas previously operated as the Chief Audiologist in a multi-site New York City private practice. He also served as Audiology Department Supervisor in a New York City hospital system—a role that included management of the newborn hearing screening programs and three audiology diagnosis centers, a vestibular diagnostic center, and audiologic services for affiliated nursing homes. His current areas of interest include vestibular diagnosis and rehabilitation, electrophysiology, student development, diversity in leadership, and audiology–advocacy.
